1. Bacterial growth: One of the main problems associated with improper drying of towels is the growth of bacteria. Wet towels provide an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, especially in warm, humid bathroom environments. Over time, these bacteria can multiply and spread, causing bad odors and even potential health risks.
Bath towels How much do you need? For some people, one large towel is enough for all bath procedures, others use three: one for the face and hands, the second for the bath, the third for the legs. Sometimes in the bathroom there is a common towel for all family members for hands and face, and each has its own bath and “foot” towel. However, ideally, there should be four towels for each family member: for the face, for the hands, for the legs and for the body. You may need two more types of towels: beach and massage. What material to choose? Only natural, preferably cotton. The hygroscopicity of a towel is very dependent on the composition of the fabric, even a small admixture of artificial fibers or synthetics drastically reduces the absorbency and, accordingly, the pleasure of bathing. In this case, you should not save: the price of a towel should not be the determining criterion
What actually absorbs water? By itself, cotton fiber does not absorb water. Air absorbs water! Since thin fibers are woven into a thread of the fabric, they create a whole system of micro-channels - capillaries, which just contain air. Thus, a system of voids in the fabric itself is obtained. It works like this: upon contact with water, a terry towel sucks water into itself and holds it due to the pressure difference. When we wring out the towel, we squeeze the capillaries, and water flows out of them.
300-400 grams These towels dry quickly and take up little space. This weight is best for baby and beach towels. 450-500 grams The most popular towel weight. They are absorbent, pleasant to the touch and dry quickly. 520-750 grams This is the highest weight available on the market and this makes the towels take up more space and take longer to dry. However, they are more pleasant to the touch and absorb water. Weight differences +/- within 5% are allowed. This is the weight tolerance described in the Polish standard PN-EN 14697:2007. If you want to buy the best towel, it is better to choose one that has more weight. However, we will keep in mind the fact that heavy towels dry longer and therefore the cost of their maintenance (washing and drying) is higher.
Towels are decorated with a so-called border, i.e. decorative strip along the shorter side of the towel. The embellishment can take the form of embossing, embroidery on the main fabric, or a jacquard border (the pattern is woven into the main fabric that has no loops).
Fabric When you want to choose the right towel at the right price, you should first find out what it was made from. Always check the composition of raw materials. The best material for a towel is classic cotton, which is characterized by the highest absorbency. This type of fabric is especially recommended for allergy sufferers.
